Posted Sun. July 30: Hawaii State Teachers Assocation (HSTA) opposes tuition vouchers. Karen Ginoza, President of the union of Hawaii's public school teachers, is exploring legal avenues to thwart last Thursday's U.S. Supreme Court ruling that legalized tuition vouchers which, in effect, opens the door for the use of taxpayers funding of private religious schools. Americans United has inquired about the legal steps the HSTA may be taking to protect the Constitution of the United States in view of the Supreme Court's obvious negligence and possible malfeasance in this area. # # #
Posted, Thurs. July 26: Americans United Supports Pledge of Allegiance. Click Here for the Americans United press release on this issue. The bottom line is that Americans United believes in an all-inclusive United States of America and supports the right of all Americans to "Pledge Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America," and that includes loyal Americans who believe in deities other than the Judeo-Christian God as well as loyal Americans who are non-Christian, atheists, agnostics or pantheists.
Many Hawaii warriors who died on the battlefield defending the Constitution of the United States were non-Christian and would obviously applaud the Federal Appeals court opinion which, in effect, would prefer restoring the Pledge to its pre-1954 wording.
